For several years, I worked inside one of North America's most recognizable fashion companies as Director of the Nygård Fashion Network.
From executive boardrooms and international productions to celebrity events, private aircraft and global expansion, I witnessed extraordinary business success from the inside.
I also witnessed something else.
How intelligent, capable people can gradually become drawn into the orbit of extraordinary influence, and how success, loyalty, ambition and image can quietly reshape judgment.
In the Orbit of Peter Nygård is not another book about the criminal allegations that eventually made international headlines.
It is the story of what happened long before
they did.
This is narrative nonfiction grounded in firsthand experience.
It explores how charismatic leadership shapes organizations, how corporate cultures evolve, and how ambitious people make decisions inside environments where success can sometimes blur ethical boundaries.
While Peter Nygård is the central figure, the book is ultimately about much larger questions:
These are questions that extend far beyond one company, or one individual.
Long before Peter Nygård became front-page news around the world, thousands of employees, suppliers, retailers, celebrities and business leaders experienced the remarkable rise of one of Canada's most recognizable entrepreneurs.
Much has been written about his legal battles.
Very little has been written about the culture that existed before them.
This book examines that world from the inside, not to revisit the courtroom, but to understand the leadership, ambition, creativity and human decisions that shaped one of the most extraordinary corporate stories in Canadian business history.
Rather than sensationalizing events, the book offers readers a rare insider's perspective on:
• Executive leadership and decision-making
• Building a global consumer brand
• Marketing, image and influence
• Celebrity culture and large-scale productions
• Organizational psychology
• Corporate loyalty and ethical tension
• Personal accountability
• The hidden cost of proximity to power
